Our Services

We offer a range of services tailored specifically to the needs of criminal defense attorneys and their clients. Our approach integrates cutting-edge investigative techniques, rigorous academic methodology, and rich subject matter expertise.

Because we are passionate about our work, we maintain a limited caseload to ensure each client receives the focused attention they deserve. This allows us to uphold our commitment to quality and thoroughness while supporting the constitutional right to an effective defense that every accused person deserves. We carefully evaluate the demands of each potential case and are fully transparent about our capacity from the outset. We can't take all cases, but every case we take gets our all.

Criminal Defense Investigation

Our primary service, we investigate complex criminal cases by obtaining, meticulously analyzing, and synthesizing case materials to provide actionable intelligence. Our investigative approach includes:

  • Comprehensive and Holistic Case Investigation. From discovery review to forensic analysis and digital evidence examination, we deeply investigate client history and case-specific context to uncover unique insights and strategic opportunities for developing a compelling defense.
  • Advanced Data Analysis. Using custom tools, Python analytics, interactive mapping, and data visualization, we continuously innovate our investigative methods to provide you with the most comprehensive evidence-based insights to strengthen your case strategy.
  • Team Integration. We aim to work seamlessly with your legal team, proactively adapting our methods to meet your needs as the case develops.

Mitigation and Life History Studies

Powerful and honest life histories help judges, prosecutors, and others in the criminal justice system see your clients as the complex human beings they are. We create detailed life histories that describe and contextualize clients' experiences and current circumstances within broader social, cultural, and psychological frameworks. Depending on your clients’ needs, our mitigation and life history studies may include:

  • Background and Social History: Socioeconomic, psychosocial-environmental, and physical history examining many factors such as family, work and education, personal circumstances, mental health*, and significant or traumatic life events.
  • Circumstances of the Offense: Fair and balanced review of the context surrounding the defendant's actions.
  • Positive Attributes and Character: Character references, community involvement, achievements and accomplishments, and evidence of remorse and taking responsibility.
  • Rehabilitation Efforts and Support: Post-offense conduct such as efforts to make amends, mental health treatment, vocational or educational pursuits, status of current or potential support system.
  • Scientific Grounding: Peer-reviewed academic research from the fields of criminology and social-cognitive psychology to support all psycho-social-environmental analysis or recommendations.

* While we do not provide in-house clinical evaluations, we will, to the extent permitted, work with your client's physical or mental health care provider(s) to incorporate their findings.
